John MBK, a Nigerian-American musician hailing from Houston, Texas, has dedicated his life to the pursuit of music. Surrounded by musical influences from an early age, John's journey began when he received a keyboard for Christmas at five. Today, he collaborates with influential artists, gracing stages alongside renowned icons in electrifying performances. Inspired by genres like gospel, highlife, classical, jazz, and hip-hop, John MBK's style merges diverse influences, pushing the boundaries of creative expression.

With 23 years of piano experience, John's musical evolution showcases his unwavering commitment to self-expression and growth. From composing original pieces from a young age to becoming an adept arranger, he has a recent passion for translating musical intentions into captivating live performances. While classically trained in his formative years and later receiving jazz piano instruction, John MBK considers himself primarily self-taught, forging a unique artistic voice that combines technical prowess with raw emotion.

As a composer, John MBK's creative process begins at the piano, where he cultivates grooves in his mind and explores melodies, harmonies, and supporting ideas. Currently, John MBK performs alongside many of Houston’s up-and-coming artists either as their band leader, or as a sideman.  He is also dedicated to crafting his debut EP, an exciting project that captures the essence of his diverse influences and serves as a vessel for his profound musical energy.
